Sandie Du Bois, co-owner of Tangles Salon, a beautiful upscale salon in Rancho Cucamonga, shared this story with L.A.’s The Place:

Charise_Braunwalder.jpgOne of my stylists, Charise Braunwalder, stumbled upon some information about a television show for the Style Network called “Split Ends”. Says Charise, “The show was about hairdressers, so the girls at my shop and I applied. A few weeks later we found out that we were cast. The premise of the show is to take two hairdressers out of their normal environment and throw them into a different one, where they have to use different tools, color, styles, and and be around different people. So I packed my bags and switched places with a girl from Brooklyn New York, Rebecca Goodson – owner of Hello Beautiful Salon in Brooklyn, New York”.

Charise, the blonde bombshell, went to NYC, and Rebecca, the tall dark-haired former runway model, came to Tangles Salon in Southern California”, says Sandie. “There were lights, camera men, sound, tech and producers, along with reporters and photographers to boot. It was a phenomenal time for all involved.

Each stylist had their own set of challenges to deal with at the different salons. The first day involved intros, chores and a test. In New York, Charise was assigned a client to do a mullet cut on. “One of the things i hate to do is a mullet cut!” explained Charise. It’s short around the ears, longer in the back, and needless to say, no matter what she did it just wasn’t working, so Charise got out the clippers and off came all his hair! The client was enamoured with Charise, and was cool with what ever she did, so that was a happy ending.

In the meantime on the west coast, Rebecca got her first challenge. As a master extensionist, I gave one of my clients to Rebecca to work on to see if she can master the technique I do – unfortunately for her, she couldn’t. Feathers got ruffled and things needed to be smoothed out but after that she was treated to a sushi lunch and a barbecue dinner party.

After spending time in our Salon, showing us how talented she really is, awesome bonds were made between all and friendships that will last a lifetime. Says Charise, “Looking back it was one of the best experiences of my life, Rebecca_Goodson__Sandie_DuB.jpgI learned a lot about how to cut and style hair while I got to spend time with very different people and make a bunch of new friends”. The first episode airs in November on the Style Network and E! Entertainment Channel; Sandie, Charise and the girls are the last of the 8 shows. Come watch, laugh and maybe even cry. It was awesome!
